Have you ever thought about how some students seem to always be the top of your class and they always score the high marks? It is because they have the recipe for success.

Throughout the world, people who succeed in life always have a secret recipe that the majority of people do not know about. They plan their success before hand. They do their homework while others sleep away or laze about. Anybody can just get by being average, but it takes you to go the extra mile to excel.

Exams are the one thing that we are all afraid of and uncomfortable with. I have come to notice that it is mainly because of the lack of the necessary preparation for the exam. Most times there is no strategy in place from the onset and this is not entirely anybody’s fault. I will like to share what I call T.I.P.S with you.

T Stands for Techniques: What techniques have you put in place towards your exam preparation? Techniques are a series of methods you use to achieve your desire goals.

What studying methods have you? Firstly you need to have your notes rewritten in a neat file, topic by topic on A4 sheets. On these sheets you could have bullet points, mind maps or anything that makes your notes fun and easy to read. The file will ensure you can quickly revise a topic and likewise easily take a couple of sheets out to revise, instead of carrying a whole book.

I Stands For Ideas: Are your ideas on each topic helping you towards a better understanding of your notes?
You should ask yourself questions as you read your notes. Questions like What, Why, How, When will ensure you grasp the main ideas behind what you are reading.

P Stands for Principles: Once you set your solid principles for your studies, there will be no way you will fail. Principles always work irrespective of who or how it is being used. The law of gravity states that once you throw a ball up, it will eventually come down and that is a principle in action. Have you got your studying principles? A good study principle you can practice is to set regular study times, let us say one hour study time with 20 to 30 minutes breaks. There is no substitute for disciplined learning, make it as routine as possible.

S Stands for Strategies: Your strategies should be your game plan and passport to your desire grades. Depending on your style of learning, you could have your notes in diagram forms as a visual learner, you could also record your notes and have it play back to you as often as possible as an auditory learner and as a hands-on learner you could design your learning, so you can touch and feel what you are learning through experiments, making it as practical as possible.
Plan your studies and add as much fun as is necessary for your success.

Have Tests Coming Up? Read This

Everyone has a friend who they envy a bit in that they seem to need to study very little yet they always seem to do well on their tests. Why is that? And then of course there are those who put hours in every night and never quite achieve as high a result as they were aiming for. Whether you are a person who studies long and hard or you do as little as you can, there are very practical things you can do before an exam that will find your answers flowing freely to you.

Now I’m not talking about some artificial drug you can take to keep you on alert so to speak, because unless you discover your own natural capacity you lose the chance to validate your own doings in the matter. It is obvious at least that some people do seem to do well on tests; it is not true that some people are biologically built to be smarter than others. What is true is that people have the capacity to be open to their own innate brilliance and possibility.

No one would expect that a person should be able to never attend the lectures or open the book and still be able to pass a test. Some people seem to be able to read quickly through their text book listen to the teacher in class never study yet at least get a passing grade.

Others study well but when it comes to taking a test they go blank and just seem so internally stressed that they never do as well as they might do.

Have you ever watched how amazingly sharp and quick witted some people are when they are playing video or sports trivia games and yet in school they are considered slow. Or have you known some who are quite the mathematician yet their English or history and biology classes are lacking. And of course you can find many very successful people who never completed even high school.

Having spent so much of my younger years in the world of sports what you learn is that professional athletes at times come off as not too smart but the amount of intelligence it takes to play at that level would surprise you. Not the retention of information but the capacity to retrieve, anticipate and choose seems almost instinctive. My point is this; everyone has the capacity on any given day to call to the present, the most optimal state of mind for performing on their exams to get the highest possible results. Some might say well they were luckier today than on most.

Fortunately you are more than your test scores. And from this day forward you embark upon a path allowing your inner capacities to naturally unfold. Law of attraction says what you believe about yourself you will attract.

Allow your knowledge to flow by considering these suggestions. First and foremost, let go of any fears or stress emotions you might have. Easier said than done you say. Yes, but at least you acknowledge it does impact your free flowing retrieval of information.

Identify one or two things right now that you are fearful might happen. Did you do that? Perhaps you have thoughts you will get a less than passing grade. Or your parents will freak out or you won’t be accepted to higher education. Maybe you just think people will laugh at you. Whatever they are for you and sometimes they are well hidden, if you can spend but a few minutes with your best friend or mom or dad or teacher and use them to express these considerations, you will indeed release at least a good portion of the grip fear has on you. That will move your score in the right direction. In addition, you can then play with it by creating some different replacement thoughts, like if I do really well I might get interviewed by the mayor, or I’ll have too many choices if I do well or maybe I’ll be offered a great paying job. Just realize they are all made up thoughts coming from the emotions of fear. Imagine happy results and make up more considerations.

Second and maybe the single most important thing is to be joyful and happy throughout the entire process of examinations. Any less emotion is unlikely to help you on your test score or in life for that matter. Life is supposed to be fun. When you are happy and joyful you are living in a condition of freedom and no resistance. Fearful emotions with negative thought chatter can be acknowledged and released, simply breath deeply and locate the center mass of your emotion and allow it to pass though and out of you.

Third, gain a clear vision of the experience along with its emotional feeling that you want to achieve. It is really critical to see that what you want is first an emotional state. Know it and feel it. Everything you want is energy first, emotion first. Know this above all things. This can not be emphasized enough. You are driven by your desire to experience emotional feelings.

So on the night before your exam go to sleep having imagined yourself doing well. See yourself happy and beaming with joy and the feelings of how easily you went though all the elements. Imagine people acknowledging how happy and relaxed you are. Be light about it all. Study well but not too rigidly. And remember keep reaching for better feeling thoughts about how you will do.

Culture and Mannequins

Finding projects and ides for your students can be very challenging at times. As a teacher my job is to follow the curriculum laid out for me by my principal and the school board. But in addition to that responsibility my principal expects me to commit my personal talents and creativity in my teaching. This means coming up with ideas and concept that after running them by him can be incorporated into the actual classroom.

Now I have to start by saying that I am very grateful to be working at a place where personal talent and input is very highly valued and the a teacher in my school can always expect to have the listening ear of our principal yet at the same time this poses a real challenge, coming up with good ideas.

In a weeks’ time I will be running a class on cultures of the world in from of the whole school. This is the story of how it happened. My brother in law sells mannequins online. We were having lunch a few weeks back when I got to telling him about how difficult it was to come up with creative teaching ideas sometimes. He asked me what I wanted to teach and I told him I wanted to make history come alive for the students so that they would have a real appreciation of the story of civilization and how it is relevant to them today.

Without blinking an eye he said “why don’t you dress up some mannequins and have them look like different people from history” it hit me! I realized the how amazing this idea could be and got to thinking about how I could make it happen.

The idea is like this, I will have a bunch of clothing laid out on a couple of tables. The clothing will be from native Indians to ancient Romans all mixed together. The job of the children would be to match the right clothing and dress the mannequin according to the time period that I would tell them. I brought the idea to my principal and he loved it! I got to work rifling through all my family’s old Halloween costumes and called a few friends to ask them to lend me some of the other things that I needed. I then went down to my brother in laws warehouse to pick up the two mannequins.

At this point the whole project is set. I have been teaching my students all about the cultures of the world and have been showing them what different people from different time used to wear. I am sure that they are ready for the challenge. But the most important thing aside for the fact that the children are learning with a lot of excitement these days, is that I am beginning to think about many way that I can use these mannequins to make my classroom more exiting. Will write another article letting you all know how it went but the thing to bear in mind is what else you can do with mannequins.
